One of the best speeches i have ever heard. Hello Lisa, Thank you, Lisa, for this video. Its really helped me. My name is Ellen and I live in the Netherlands. Will you be travelling to Europa in the future.
It has been a year and a half since my 5 year relationship ended. I'm 22 now, and I still think about him several times a week. We always got along well, and I truly believe that we both left the relationship with an intense love for one another still present. We were too young to treat each other properly. We both made a lot of mistakes, though I admittedly made a few more. We needed to live a little bit more, enjoy our youth and make our mistakes, and improve as people, alone. The timing wasn't right. I'll always love him for never having intentionally treated me poorly, and I'm grateful that he was always the best man he could be to me at the time. For treating the separation with such grace: answering my calls when I couldn't take the pain, which only ever consisted of vaguely expressing how hard we were both trying and nothing more. I thank him for day one, to the last time I heard his lovely voice in January. Here's to you, Jessi.

Postcards from the breakup watch movie reviews. Average rating 4. 05 · 778 ratings 33 reviews | Start your review of Postcards from the Boys This, literally, is a collection of postcards sent by either John Lennon, Paul McCartney or George Harrison to their bandmate Ringo Starr, before, during after the breakup of the Beatles. The first printing of this was for charity and priced accordingly: It was very expensive. In its present form it's priced at about what most hardcovers are priced at. It's a relatively short book, but as coffee table books go, it's average length. The real reason to have this is to get a sense of the genuine bond.. This charming and predictably offbeat memoir from the most approachable and seemingly unaffected of the Fab 4 centers on the pre-internet, pre e-mail era (not THAT long ago! ) where people actually wrote things down on what were known as "postcards" and mailed them to each, huh? This is a must-read for any Beatle-phobe. Spanning the entire time-continuum from pre-Beatlemania, to the dizzying heights thereof, as well as the years post-breakup, Ringo proves to be a bit of a pack-rat.. Postcards between Beatles. What a way to combine two of my favorite subjects! What a wide variety of postcards John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison sent to Ringo Starr; they range from naked Hawaiian beauties to cats playing with balls and a snapshot of Campbeltown's High Street with plenty of other equally unusual subjects inbetween. The messages thereon are also varied, mostly amusing and many with drawings. Ringo describes each one and tells of what he was doing at the time of their arrival, much of which is interesting and often makes for amusing reading as.. A simple book of postcards to Ringo with his memories of that time period brings back wonderful memories of my teenage obsession with The Beatles. I was just the right age when they his America and changed the face of music forever. Delightful little book. What a lovely idea to publish a book with an assortment of postcards Ringo Starr received from the other three Beatles! There are innumerable books about this band but nothing is as personal as a written letter - or in this case a postcard. So if you want to get to know them better you must read this "book". Although John, George and Paul wrote only few words on most of them you can read a lot between them. Moreover it's interesting and amusing which motifs and shots they had picked. So are.. I have a real soft spot for Ringo Starr. He so good-natured and pleasant. This is a great collection of personal notes and postcards sent to Ringo from his fellow Beatles. It was really fun to get an inside look at their friendship. Definitely worth the read. I discuss my experience seeing Ringo's show at Bethel Woods for the 50th anniversary of Woodstock in this special episode of the All the Books Show:... The postcards in this book are such a neat look into the Beatles' history and their relationships with one another that extended far beyond the breakup of the band. The only slight complaint that I have is that Ringo's commentary/captions occasionally seem kind of off in left field with regard to the postcard they accompany... Overall, though, a fun book to check out if you're a Beatles fan Sweet and fun. Wish there had been more to it, maybe more explanations or fun stories, but what was offered was awesome and a good insight to under-rated Ringo's thoughts on the band and his friends. This is a sweet but dull coffee table book featuring Ringo’s personal collection of postcards sent by his fellow Beatles. I’m surprised so many made it through the mail, and were not snatched up as souvenirs by postal service employees. Ringo has such a sweetness about him! And John sure liked to send naughty postcards! This was a very quick read, featuring odd and unusual postcards sent by various Beatles to Ringo Starr & family, annotated with Ringo's memories of the time it was sent as well as the sender. Apparently Ringo loves getting postcards, so his friends obliged. I didn't realize Paul was such a doodler - many of the postcards he sent include little line drawings - boats, people, everyday objects. One thing I noticed - in this book at least, Ringo warmly relates his memories of George and John,.. A wonderful insight into this beloved band. How very touching that they still communicated despite the turmoil. Ringo's honest commentary is refreshing. Especially when he admits not remembering things. Definitely not an autobiography or really a memoir. But it is Richard Starkey being very candid about relationships and history in a series of anecdotes revolving around postcards he received from John, Paul and George and others. Very fun and too short. I enjoyed reading these postcards. I nice little piece of history. Not much to read here, mainly postcards written to Ringo from the various Beatles. Beatle fan memoribilia, interesting to beatlemaniacs. It's lovable and a good-time, offering a rare insight into the true interactions of the boys during and after the break up. Being a die-hard Beatles' fan, it was lovely to receive this book as a surprise Christmas prezzie from my son. It's a great book by Ringo, based on a very simple idea - he shares some of the postcards he received from his fellow-Beatles during the late 60s & beyond (apparently he's always loved receiving postcards, but has never been so good at sending them himself! Each double-page reproduces the front of back of each card, along with Ringo's comments on what memories they evoke for him from.. Fun bit of Beatles related fluff from good ol' Ringo. You get to see many postcards the fab three sent Ringo over the years starting from 1966 when they would take holidays. The cards range from illuminating to completely silly. It's not a bad way to spend fifteen minutes as a hardcore Beatles fan. It was a wonderful tiny peak into the personal world of Ringo, George, John and Paul. The doodles, the in-jokes and Ringo's comments and thoughts. And as the back of the book states, " that through all and everything the Boys remained friends, even if they couldn't go on being The Beatles. " A Beatle fan would appreciate this book! In Postcards from the Boys, Ringo presents 51 postcards that were sent to him by John, Paul and George from the late 1960s through the late 1980s. Both the front and back of each card is shown along with all personal messages and drawings that were on them. I found the memories that Ringo added with each card to be the most interesting part of this book. I enjoyed it very much. Not much to "read" and it's sad/clear that Ringo doesn't remember a lot - but there's some neat wee things here, some cool drawings and some interesting sentiment. And some of the wee vignettes are rather lovely or at least interesting. Any Beatle nut could (and will) do worse I guess... Not as enlightening as THE JOHN LENNON LETTERS, but enjoyable on a less scholarly level. A collection of postcards that the other Beatles sent to Ringo, with his comments about them. Indispensable for Beatles fans, much less so for anyone else. I liked the postcards but the descriptions of the sounded out of place unless you knew what was happening at that time. It's a fun coffee table book. It was really fun to see the actual postcards sent between The Beatles. I loved the drawings:) And, Ringo Starr's commentary was very entertaining. Loved it, great he still has all those postcards and has shared them with us. I only wish the book was longer! Very enjoyable to look at, and read these cards. The Beatles missed each other when they were apart and sent postcards to cheer themselves up. Normal postcards, real names, actual addresses. Here they are in a book. It's a lovely thing.

Postcards from the breakup watch movie 2018. Media playback is unsupported on your device Media caption Sending a postcard from Timbuktu How many handwritten letters and personal postcards did you send this year to friends and family? How many have you received? We're in a world where billions will log on to social media and chat apps so they can communicate instantly with friends and family overseas. But perhaps we are at a point where people want to return to a more simple world, where physical letters give us a sense of reality. Some businesses certainly think it's time that we do. Image copyright dhruti shah Image caption Just some of the letters I have hoarded over the years I'm that friend who keeps every handwritten personal note and letter I've ever received. I have a box at home where these letters live - some are from old friends, some are from now long dead loved ones, and some mark momentous occasions in my life. A few months ago I spotted - on Facebook, ironically enough - a friend posting about a business set up to help unemployed tour guides in Mali make money, be active and tap into a letter-writing community which appears to be seeing a bit of a revival. Postcards from Timbuktu was set up by Phil Paoletta and it does it exactly what the name suggests. You can be anywhere in the world, log on to your computer and send a postcard via one of the most remote places in the world. Mali doesn't get a huge amount of visitors - the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office advises against all but essential travel to the country because of the instability it has seen in recent years. However, Mali has a strong literary culture and its spiritual and intellectual capital, Timbuktu, has been an important desert trading post throughout history. To get a postcard stamped at its post office was to know people in a very far away place. I decided to send myself a postcard from Timbuktu - it arrived months later Phil was in Bamako in Mali in January 2015 when he received a postcard from a friend in the US. "It was the first time I had received a postcard in years, " he recalls. "You rarely get tangible mail these days. " Coincidentally, that same day Phil ran into his friend Ali Nialy, a former tour guide from Timbuktu who was trying to find a job and having real difficulties. "Unless you're working for the UN or an NGO, there's nothing out there for you. " The two came up with the idea of setting up the business, word quickly spread, and the operation now involves 10 people. You log on to the site, type out a personalised note, pay $10 (£8) and at some point in the future, a handwritten postcard with a Timbuktu stamp pops through your (or your chosen recipient's) letterbox. Postcards from Timbuktu Hadji picked up my postcard after it arrived in Bamako from Timbuktu Once you've paid up, the words you write are sent via Whatsapp to a writer in Timbuktu. The note is then delivered by the postman on his bike to Timbuktu's Post Office where it gets its all important stamp. Then it's sent back to Mali's capital Bamako, sometimes through a hitched ride on a UN flight down to the city. This is essential as it's only possible to send mail internationally from Bamako. "We get all sorts of messages. One couple sent a card to the person they wanted to officiate at their wedding. We've had birthday messages, get well soon messages, passive aggressive notes - everything, " says Phil. "It's been really interesting for the former tour guides because they are used to interacting with people all over the world and although there are fewer tourists now, they can still be ambassadors for Timbuktu through this. " The team have sent hundreds of postcards with interest surging. Phil says the current business model means the tour guides get about $6 after shipping, printing, the website platform costs and taxes are set aside. "So for a $10 postcard, they get a decent amount of money for what amounts to a few minutes' work really. " Read more: Postcard from 1937 returned to family Letter gets there by hand-drawn map Meeting Mali's most dedicated postman It's an idea that science educator Jean Pennycook is familiar with. She works in a remote part of Antarctica - Cape Royds - where she lives with Adelie penguins for several months of the year. For the past 13 years, thousands of people have sent her postcards they've designed with pictures of penguins on - so she can return them with a very special Antarctica postmark. Sapna Shah Six-year-old Rian Shah drew this postcard. Months later it came back with a special stamp from Antarctica (right) "It's a valuable postmark as you can't get it unless you mail the letter in Antarctica. This project is providing a geography lesson, a penguin studies lesson and a letter-writing lesson as the kids have to do it all themselves, " says Jean. "Sometimes an entire school will send postcards down to me. To save money, we do it in bulk and instead of maybe costing $100, we're able to send them all back and it costs them just $5 in prepaid stamps. I will put the postmark on each card anyway and stamp them with a penguin stamp so everyone can still take part. " Jean has no specific funding for the postcard project from the grant which allows her to travel to the remote region but she sees it as a key part of her role. She might be in the wilderness but is pretty connected. She regularly updates her website, hosts Skype chats and livestreams the penguins hanging out. Handing Rian's postcard over to Jean when I met her in London Author Jon McGregor edits The Letters Page - a literary journal that only accepts handwritten submissions and pays £100 for those chosen for publication. He gave up email for an entire year, asking people to contact him via letter only in a bid to try to focus on his latest novel. "A lot of people actually just left me alone. A few people who did write to me and send me stuff by post - those communications actually developed into meaningful connections with other writers. It showed the difference between email and letters and the way you can forge a connection with someone, " he says. The Letters Page The Letters Page journal only accepts handwritten submissions but it does pay for them "But at the same time, I realised how convenient email is. You're able to contact more than one person at once and send documents or pictures. It was quite a relief to get to the end of the year. "When I started The Letters Page, it was interesting to see how many people shared that nostalgia for letters and letter writing. The envelope it comes in bears the traces of the journey, while the letter itself - the handwriting, the coffee stains, the doodles, the choices of paper - all of these are part of the message. When you get an email, you just get the words and that's that. "I think people are looking back to letters and letter writing as a general reawakening of things which are hand-made or unique in some way and have a personal touch. " Dhruti Shah I am now taking part in an experiment following a letter trail with friends Andrew in Sierra Leone, Alexis in Nigeria and Rebecca in London Both Jon McGregor and Jean Pennycook say that many young people are now used to the informal way language is used in social media and so letter writing is an extra skill for them to master. "There are many who have had no training in how to write a letter or that writing an email can be as formal as writing a letter. That's a life skill - changing your register and recognising your audience, " says Jon. "Students can grasp if they are writing a letter for an application for a job or a course, they have to write with a certain level of formality, but they don't necessarily straight away grasp they need a different tone of voice with their friends on Whatsapp than they do with their grandmother. " PA Letters Live has become an incredibly popular event with celebrities reading out letters But could the art of letter writing become a viable business market for some? Go online and you'll see people live blogging events such as Letters Live - where audiences pay to watch celebrities read out letters, or check your phone and come across apps or platforms such as My Postcard or Touchnote which will send your pictures as postcards to loved ones. "If I get a postcard from someone who's away somewhere, it's as much the thought that they've gone through the hassle of choosing a postcard, working out where to get a stamp from, finding a postbox and then the postcard making that journey through to me. That's part of the value of the postcard as an object which you can handle, " says Jon. So, if anyone wants to send me a postcard or a letter from an unusual place, feel free... and if you do it from somewhere in the middle of nowhere, even better.
